What data does ModelRiver store, and for how long?
Updated
ModelRiver stores a log of each request (the prompt, the response and details like model, tokens and timing) so you can debug and monitor your app. Request logs are deleted automatically after your plan's retention period.
How long are request logs kept?#
| Plan | Request logs kept for |
|---|---|
| Free | 30 days |
| Pro | 60 days |
| Scale | 90 days |
| Custom | 180 days |
Logs still needed for your current billing period are kept until it closes. There's no per-project retention setting.
What else is kept?#
- Usage totals (counts only, no prompt or response text): while your account is active.
- Billing records: 7 years, for tax and legal reasons.
- Webhook and callback delivery logs, including payloads: until you ask us to delete them.
- Cached responses: until the request they came from is deleted.
Can I stop ModelRiver from storing prompts and responses?#
Yes. In Project settings → Request logs, turn off Save full request and response text. New logs then keep the details (model, tokens, timing, status) without the text. Note:
- It doesn't change logs already saved.
- It can't be turned off while a workflow in the project uses conversation memory, which needs the saved text.
- Webhook and callback delivery logs still keep their payloads.
There's no automatic redaction, so remove personal data you don't need before sending it.
Can I export my logs?#
Not currently. You can export your workflows and configuration as JSON.
